Who runs this site

Apartment Upgrade Lab is written and run by Will, its founder — one renter, not a content farm. Every guide is edited against one question: would this advice survive a lease inspection and a move-out day? We focus on reversible, apartment-aware decisions — better Wi-Fi, smarter lighting, safer small-space setups, and product comparisons that help you decide what to try before you buy.

How we choose products

Our picks are research-based. We compare manufacturer spec sheets and verified retailer listings, then filter hard for the renter angle: no-drill installation, reversible setup, and gear that moves out with you. Every spec claim on this site traces to a manufacturer page or major retailer listing, linked in each guide's Sources section.

We do not claim hands-on lab testing. When we haven't handled a unit, we say so. We keep safety advice conservative on purpose — electrical work, mounting, cameras, and anything touching building wiring get a "check your lease and a qualified pro" answer, not a workaround.

How we make money

Some product links are Amazon affiliate links; as an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. A commission never decides a pick — products earn their spot on apartment fit, and every recommendation also links the manufacturer's official page so you can check specs without clicking a store link. Details are on the affiliate disclosure page.

Corrections

Prices and product availability change faster than any static page. Every price on this site is a range marked "check current," and we date-stamp price checks on the comparison page. If you spot something stale or wrong, we want to fix it.
